The final ruling is that while it might be biologically linked to Striders for whatever reason, it's still something of an abnormal ability that most humans indeed couldn't do. It's also not something like super speed that comes from training and exceeds a level that most humans would realistically operate on, pushing it out of being constantly available and instead to being only available on high-frequency worlds.
I personally hope this isn't a deal breaker! A new page has been created with a bit more explanation on powers that are kept and taken here in order to keep things fair and in-line with game mechanics (which isn't changing any rules, just expanding on them and clarifying in order to better inform players and keep information available to all applicants).
