RULES.
1. Spellbind is an 18+ game. While the game is not strictly focused on sex, the game is sex-friendly. Some worlds traveled to will have a more sexual vibe than others when it comes to the nature of events, though there will always be non-sexual options. Because of this the game is only open to those who are of the standard legal age of 18.

2. This is the standard rule about being a good person and player. Don't bully players, keep things civil, always browse permissions posts and adhere to player consent issues, don't plagiarize, keep the ic/ooc divide, be friendly and don't cause wank. If an issue arises where you are doing any of the above, or are behaving in a way that a mod believes falls in line with creating a negative environment, you will be talked to. Players will receive one talking to per issue, and if the issue is repeated they will be banned. For severe issues, like harassment, banning will occur after one discussion if sufficient evidence is provided.

This doesn't list out all possible infractions. Mods will be presented with an issue and we will handle it as we see fit using reason and the severity of the issue at hand. We want to welcome a fair atmosphere of communication and base rulings on player comfort more than anything.

3. Activity is a must to stay in game. 20 comments of any type are required to stay in game every month. Here are some specifics on what qualifies for AC:

  • You can use up to 2-3 different threads to prove AC. This means a qualifying AC can be either 2 threads equaling 20 or more OR 3 threads equalling 20 or more.
  • You can NOT use only one thread for AC.
  • Only one thread can be with a castmate. Even if you have multiple qualifying threads with castmates, only one may apply. Why? Activity isn't just about showing that you're around, but also that you're actively branching out and expanding upon CR outside of those you have predetermined CR with.
  • AC is halved if you have either a new character in game or have taken a hiatus for more than two weeks. If you hiatus for more than 20 days, AC isn't necessary for the month.
  • Mods will also take some discretion when checking AC. For instance, if someone comments to one thread 10 times, one thread 9 times and then later on realizes they need an extra AC comment to pass, a mod may not consider this AC full if a thread of 1 comment is applied to round out AC.

This is not necessarily a strict policy. There is a gray area here, and if someone consistently appears to be sliding just below the bar more than once they will potentially be talked to. We all have difficult months from time to time, but when things become a pattern is also when things become a problem.

    4. Try to stay IC. While this is a hobby about having fun, being OOC can also impact the fun of others in game. No one can be expected to know how to act exactly like a character at all times, especially one that isn't their own, so don't feel constant pressure to be 100% accurate. However, players are encouraged to bring OOC behavior to the mods attention with proof and/or reasoning that the behavior is OOC. Blatant OOC behavior falls in line with the above two-strike rule. It will be discussed once with the player and then a removal from the game. The player IS welcome to apply for other characters in this instance, though.

    5. Please read all setting info, mod posts and event information thoroughly before asking questions, applying or responding.

    6. Don't be afraid to speak up. If you believe something is wrong - whether with a players behavior, a mod's response, an application, anything - it's always okay to address your concerns. Remember that mods can't see or know all. Speak up when you think something should be addressed and a mod will act accordingly.
